Andi Unfiltered: High-Protein Recipes, Smart Food Swaps, Weight Loss and Real Life Chaos

I’m a mom, creator, comfort-food remixer, professional chaos coordinator, and someone learning how to rebuild life one protein bowl at a time.

Andi Unfiltered started during one of the hardest seasons of my life. After a serious shoulder injury, multiple surgeries, a long recovery, chronic pain, and an unexpected workers’ compensation battle, I found myself facing something I never expected: a future that looked very different from the one I had planned. Financial uncertainty, physical limitations, and months of recovery forced me to get creative, rethink everything, and find new ways to move forward.

At the same time, I was maintaining a weight loss of more than 160 pounds while learning how to nourish my body through healing. What began as a way to stretch a grocery budget, increase protein intake, and make comfort food fit my goals eventually grew into Andrea Unfiltered, The Real Damn Kitchen, and the cookbook Reclaiming Flavor, which I never planned to write.

Today, I share the things that genuinely helped me survive it all: high-protein comfort food, realistic wellness, practical shortcuts, humor, healing, and a healthy amount of sarcasm.

My daughter is the center of my world, and much of what I create comes from wanting to make life safer, easier, and more comfortable for both of us. As the parent of a child with unique sensory needs, I’ve learned that perfection is overrated and flexibility is a superpower. Around here, you’ll find recovery-friendly meals, budget-friendly ideas, honest conversations, favorite finds, real-life victories, and occasional reminders that nobody gets extra points for making life harder than it needs to be.

You’ll also find plenty of shortcuts. Sometimes that means meal prep. Sometimes it means rotisserie chicken. Sometimes it means paper plates because conserving your energy matters more than impressing strangers on the internet. If a shortcut helps you feed your family, protect your sanity, or survive a difficult season, I’m probably a fan of it.

This isn’t a “perfect influencer” space.

It’s real life, unfiltered.

The meals aren’t always plated perfectly. The kitchen isn’t always spotless. The dogs occasionally steal the spotlight. Things get burned, dropped, forgotten, or mysteriously disappear right before you need them. Somehow, we keep moving forward anyway.

Because around here, progress beats perfection every single time.

Welcome to the Real Damn Family ❤️
