High Protein Country Fried Steak
High-Protein Country-fried steak made lighter with a crispy coating, creamy gravy, and high-protein comfort-food flavor. This recipe proves you can still enjoy Southern classics while working toward weight loss goals, tracking macros, or simply eating more protein without giving up the foods you love.
Ingredients
- 4 thin cube steaks
- 1 cup Kodiak mix
- 1/2 cup pork panko
- Guy Fieri Garlic Butter Seasoning
- Kinder's The Blend Seasoning
- 2 eggs
- 1/4 cup Fairlife milk
- Cooking spray
- Garlic Butter Popcorn Spray (optional)
- For the gravy
- 1 packet country gravy mix (I prefer Pioneer Country Gravy)
- Fairlife milk water, prepared according to package directions
Instructions
- Season both sides of the steaks with Guy Fieri Garlic Butter Seasoning, Kinder's The Blend, and a light sprinkle of Old Bay Garlic & Herb Seasoning.
- In a shallow bowl, whisk together the eggs and Fairlife milk. Season the milk mixture with additional Guy Fieri Garlic Butter Seasoning and Kinder's The Blend
- In a separate bowl, combine your dry breading ingredients. Add additional seasonings to taste and mix well.
- Dip each steak into the milk bath, allowing any excess liquid to drip off.
- Coat the steak thoroughly in the dry breading mixture, pressing gently to help the coating adhere.
- Lightly spray your air fryer basket, tray, or mesh shelf with cooking spray.
- Place the breaded steaks in a single layer and generously spray both sides with Garlic Butter Popcorn Spray for extra flavor and a crispier finish.
- Air fry at 350°F for approximately 15 minutes, or until the coating is golden brown and the steaks are cooked through. Cooking time may vary depending on thickness and your air fryer model.
- Serve with your favorite mashed potatoes, gravy, vegetables, or comfort-food sides.
- Andy's Tip 💗
- For the crispiest coating, avoid overcrowding the air fryer and give the steaks a light second spray of Garlic Butter Popcorn Spray halfway through cooking. The extra flavor is absolutely worth it!
- Country Gravy Instructions
- In a small saucepan, combine water and Fairlife milk, using the total liquid amount called for on the Pioneer Country Gravy packet. I like to use half water and half Fairlife milk for extra creaminess and a little boost of protein.
- Whisk in the Pioneer Country Gravy Mix until fully combined.
- Cook over medium heat, whisking frequently, until the gravy thickens to your desired consistency.
- If the gravy becomes too thick, add a splash of Fairlife milk to thin it out.
- Serve generously over the country fried steaks.
- Andy's Gravy Tip 💗
- I use Pioneer Country Gravy Mix because it already has great flavor and usually doesn't need any additional seasoning. The Fairlife milk makes it extra creamy without adding much extra work, and nobody ever guesses there's a little extra protein hiding in the gravy.
